So China will "Talk" with the Dalai Lama's Representatives

So China has agreed to talk with His Holiness The Dalai Lama's representatives.

After furious condemnation from around the world the Chinese have agreed to talk, however it is noticeable that they have said "the relevant department of the central government will have contact and consultation with Dalai's private representative in the coming days,"

Should we really expect anything from the Chinese ? On arrival back in India His Holiness said "of course talks, it depends what kind of talks. If they are serious talks, most welcome. Just mere seeing face to face has not much meaning."

Which points to what these talks almost certainly are which is a move to placate Governments around the world, that these talks will again be mere Window Dressing by the CCP, in the face of sustained and severe criticisms from governments around the world about their continued policies in Tibet.

Real talks will be hard to imagine from a government that on the one had agree's to talk and on the other persists by making statements such as these comments in two Communist mouth pieces in China yesterday...

The People's Daily, the mouthpiece of the Communist Party, "the Dalai clique" for seeking support from Western countries and ignoring "the efforts and achievements made by China after shaking off serfdom and poverty in Tibet."

The Tibet Daily, another party newspaper, said, "The Lhasa March 14 incident is another ugly performance meticulously plotted by the Dalai clique to seek Tibet independence."

So talks would be good but talks in a back office somewhere in Beijing between His Holiness the Dalai Lama's representative and a party official will do little to achieve anything.

However if world leaders make their feelings know about the uselessness of such meetings and that only substantive meetings would be suitable, maybe then the Chinese would hold such meetings.

After all really it is in their best interests, a harmonious society cannot be achieved by the barrel of a gun and the heel of a jack boot, The Dalai Lama, is peaceful and wants an autonomous Tibet within China, so he already agrees with the Chinese, when will they accept his offer of friendship ? He is their best hope of achieving peace.
