China says it has jailed 17 Tibetans after initial Uprising in Tibet the true number is 6.5 million

China yesterday claims it has imprisoned 17 Tibetans after the initial wave of uprising that started in March.

The figure is without meaning however, so let us put it into context, many thousands are now imprisoned in Monasteries and halls throughout Tibet, many more thousands of people have fled to forests and mountains where they are hiding. Whole villages are deserted, where armed PLA troops maraud around the streets arresting anyone who is able bodied, fields that should be sown are lying fallow as the Tibetans dare not come out from hiding to plant the crops this year. Only the old and infirm or very young remain.

The TGI has reported that many are starving to death while incarcerated in Monasteries and other places surrounded by troops, other Tibetans are dying of dehydration as they do not get water and are forced to drink their own urine.

 Further a confirmed 204 people have been killed directly by the PLA or due to mal-treatment or under torture, the actual figure cannot be verified but is almost certainly much higher than the verified figure used by the TGI which has meticulously verified the figures given.

Tibet is an open prison now even more so than it was a few months ago, for every 10 Tibetan's there is one PLA soldier in Tibet, every movement is watched and noted.

Whole villages are being rounded up forced off their land and pushed into barbed wire enclosed "Villages" their livestock is killed and all sources of income are extinguished. The Tibetan's are then forced to live on state handouts which are never enough. Also the food electricity and water are cut off if anyone does anything the Communists do not like. Most are forced to "Pay" for their new "Houses"  costing £15 to £25,000 a time this instantly puts Nomads who were free and able to support themselves in debt and unable to make any money.

Women are checked for their period's and for signs of pregnancy, if they have more than one child the second is aborted even at 9 months, if the baby survives it is killed at birth. Women are steralised without anaesthetic if they cannot pay a massive fine.

17 imprisoned ? I don't think so, 6.5 million people are imprisoned in Tibet when you consider the level of PLA troops to Tibetan's the ratio is similar to a well staffed prison one guard for every 10 prisoners. This is not an ordinary prison either, this is the worst kind of nightmare and Tibetans are suffering this now and it has been going on for 50 years. It is this that has caused a groundswell of resentment among Tibetans and it's not suprising really, how many American's or Europeans or anyone for that matter would put up with such punitive treatment ?
