Tibetans And Supporters Mark 51st National Uprising Day In Taiwan

Taipei: The Taiwanese friends of Tibet joined Tibetans in commemorating of the 51st anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10 March 2010.
A press conference was organised at Taipei University at 10 am to mark the occasion. The representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Taiwan, Mr Dawa Tsering, was invited to the press conference during which the Chinese translation of His Holiness the Dalai Lama's statement were distributed.
Later in the evening at 7 pm, the Tibetan community and members of Taiwanese friends of Tibet gathered to mourn the death of hundreds of Tibetans who where brutally killed by Chinese security forces in Tibet in March 2008. A large number of Tibetan monks attended the prayer service at the main entrance gate of Chiang kai shek memorial hall in Taipei. Tibetans and Taiwanese supporters also held a candle light vigil to mourn those Tibetan killed during the Chinese crackdown in Tibet.
