Dharamshala:
A group of Indian students from Pune-based Maharashtra Institute of Technology's (MIT) School of Government met Kalon Tripa Prof. Samdhong Rinpoche and had a brief discussion about the ‘leadership and governance’ at Lhakpa Tsering hall of the Department of Information and International Relations here this morning.

Kalon Tripa spoke on the need and significance of quality leadership at the helm of every country and urged “the students’ participation in the future governance and leadership of India”, saying that this is the right path to serve humanity. He also urged the students to set a leadership example to the world based on human values and principles. In this context, Kalon Tripa said that the Tibetan people's struggle for freedom “is truly free of violence as was taught and practised by Mahatma Gandhi”.

The students, who are strong likelihood of future leadership of India in different spheres, sought the speaker’s opinion and wisdom on various issues related to Tibet and Buddhism.

“How does one apply Buddha’s four noble truths in today’s world?”, asked one student.

While another asked, “How I, as a future leader, can possibly render help to resolve the Tibet’s issue?” to which Kalon Tripa appealed to him to take active role in voicing the Tibet issue to the outside world based on truth. Kalon Tripa also suggested that the students’ participation and role in various Tibet support groups can be of help in the process of resolving the Tibet issue.

The visiting Indian students are the fifth batch of ‘Master Program in Government’ (MPG) of the college and the meeting with the Prime Minister was part of their visit in Himachal Pradesh to interact with government functionaries.
