Dharamshala: Preaching on the third day of religious discourse at Bodh Gaya, His Holiness the Dalai Lama today lauded the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje and other Tibetan lamas for their efforts in the environmental protection.
Gyalwang Karmapa had recently launched a web site on environmental protection which offers educational resources on importance of forest protection, water conservation, wildlife preservation, climate change adaptation and waste management. The site is dedicated to environmental protection in the Himalayan region initiated by a network of thirty-six Kagyu Buddhist monasteries across India, Nepal and Bhutan.
Speaking on Tibet's environment, His Holiness the Dalai Lama expressed concern over the impacts of climate-change on the Tibetan plateau. His Holiness spoke on implications of global warming and drying up of Tibetan rivers on the billions of people living in Asia.
His Holiness also expressed concern over the dwindling number of Tibetan children studying in the Central Tibetan Schools in India. His Holiness encouraged the people of Himalayan regions to send their children to such schools.
More than 50,000 devotees from all across the globe are in Bodh Gaya, where His Holiness the Dalai Lama is giving a five-day religious discourse.
